Straight & Curved Stairlifts

Straight Stairlifts

All of our straight & curved stairlifts (new & reconditioned) are fitted with a soft start motor, which is usually operated by a smooth-action joystick. You have complete control of the stairlift at all times. If you release the joystick the stairlift will stop immediately.

Domestic Stairlift rails are always fixed to the stair tread. A straight stairlift will have a rail which runs from the ground floor to the top step. The stairlifts footrest will come to rest level with the top step and the user then swivels the seat to enable both feet to be on the landing. Powered swivel stairlift seats are avialable to assist people that may struggle to turn the chair.

Curved Stairlifts

Curved stairlifts can go around bends in the stair and can also be designed to run onto landings. They are more expensive than straight stairlifts because the rails have to be individually made to the exact specification of the stairs. This also means that they have very little resale value because they can't be resited to another staircase.

It’s also worth noting that all of our stairlifts are fitted with obstruction sensors that automatically stop the lift, should they come into contact with an object, e.g. a child’s toy.  All lifts are lockable with a key.

Stair lifts are ideal for home use: from a narrow, curved staircase in a small cottage to a home with multiple stopping-off points.  We’ve even installed stairlifts to garden patios and yachts!

Stairlifts for Narrow Stairs

As an independent supplier of stairlifts we can choose from the best manufacturers products giving you our unbiased opinion as to which stairlift would be the most suitable for your stairs. This is especially important if you have a narrow staircase or if you have stairs with an unusual configuration. Our parent company has more information on stairlifts for narrow stairs on their website.
